The Capital Region Buddy Walk is a one-mile inspirational walk and day of free activities that aims to promote acceptance and inclusion of all people with Down syndrome by inviting the surrounding community to learn more and to, ultimately, embrace the individuality of their neighbors.
This FREE - Open to the Public event is organized by the Down Syndrome Aim High Resource Center (DSAHRC) and encourages attendees to raise pledge funds from family, friends, colleagues, and others. All donations - large or small - will help support the mission of the DSAHRC to provide valuable services to Capital Region families.

Words that Walk - Summer Inspirational Writing Campaign |

STUDENTS PEN WORDS THAT WALK....AND THE WINNERS ARE
In advance of our 2009 Buddy Walk we invited Capital Region students to participate in the first annual “Words that Walk” Summer Inspirational Writing Campaign. This summer, usually a time where students can get away from the homework and writing, the DSAHRC encouraged those willing to step up, to a seasonal challenge to help inspire their peers.
Students submitted various entries, from poems to songs....some short, some long. The paper (or the computer in many cases) was their canvas.
Judging focused on the criteria that the words should promote acceptance of all students – since each and every student has various strengths and in some cases, challenges – and help to inspire others.
