This is part of a series of seminars on "Preparing for Your Child's Annual Review". It is presented by the DSAHRC and features Julie Keegan, Esq., Parent Network of the Capital Region.
In order to create an effective IEP, it is critical that parents and other CSE members understand the student's unique needs and current level of functioning--academically, socially, and physically. This workshop will help parents and advocates:
Understand evaluations by the school and outside providers, including common tests and what all those scores mean
Determine if additional evaluations are needed and how to get them
Access disability-specific resources to shed light on hidden needs
Use the NYS Learning Standards and other sources that describe age-appropriate skills
Ensure that the CSE has a thorough understanding of your child's academic, social and physical strengths, weaknesses and needs
This seminar will be held on Thursday, March 25, 2010 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at the DSAHRC at 1 Marcus Blvd., Suite 105, Albany.
